Smart Villages Africa is committed to transforming rural communities through smart healthcare, girls’ and women’s education, inclusive social welfare programmes, and sustainable agricultural development, creating resilient, empowered, and self-reliant communities for long-term social and economic progress.
Mamvula is a rural village located approximately 107 kilometres from Lusaka along the Lusaka–Mumbwa Road. The village has a population of about 700 people and serves as a central point for a cluster of 12 surrounding villages with a combined population of nearly 7,000 residents.Recognizing the limited access to healthcare services in the area, the Mamvula Smart Clinic Project was initiated to provide essential primary healthcare services to this under served rural population where the nearest healthcare facility is located approximately 20 kilometres away, making access to medical services challenging for local residents. For communities situated further inside the village cluster and away from the main road, access becomes even more difficult, particularly during emergencies and adverse weather conditions.
Smart Villages Africa envisions establishing a fully functional clinic staffed by a trained nurse as the first phase of the project. Over time, the facility will be upgraded into a Smart Clinic by integrating advanced information technology solutions, telemedicine services, digital health records, and remote specialist consultations, thereby bringing quality healthcare closer to rural communities.

PRELIMINARY WORKS
Construction commenced in 2023, with Dr. KJ personally contributing approximately USD 5,000 towards the rehabilitation and construction of the main clinic building from plinth level. A $500 was donated by two Oxford University students which helped some expenses.

MAIN BUILDING
Unfortunately, the project experienced delays due to financial constraints and challenges in coordinating implementation through the village committee. However, following a recent engagement with community leaders and the village committee, a renewed commitment was made to complete the facility within the next six months.
STAGE 03
NURSE QUARTERS
Currently, the nurses’ accommodation block has only been constructed up to wall level and requires completion, including roofing, doors, windows, electrical, plumbing, and finishing works. In addition, a new patient waiting area is required to provide adequate shelter, comfort, and accessibility for community members seeking healthcare services at the facility.
To achieve this objective, Smart Villages Africa is launching a fundraising initiative to raise the remaining USD 15,000 required to complete the project as outlined in the attached project budget and implementation plan. Upon completion, the clinic will significantly improve access to basic healthcare services for thousands of people in Mamvula and the surrounding villages, reducing travel distances, improving health outcomes, and enhancing the overall well-being of the community.
We therefore appeal to individuals, organizations, corporate entities, and well-wishers to partner with us in this noble cause by making a financial contribution towards the completion of the Mamvula Smart Clinic.
Every contribution, regardless of size, will bring us one step closer to providing accessible healthcare to a community that needs it most.
Together, we can build hope, improve lives, and create a healthier future for Mamvula and its neighbouring villages.
